Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know Zenbumi is really better than other matcha?

Honestly? You won’t, not until you try it.
We’re not here to compete with other brands (some of them are doing great work). But we are here to do things differently. We source directly from Japan, curate our offerings carefully, and treat every product, even our most affordable, with the kind of care usually reserved for limited editions.
That said, matcha is personal. What matters most is how it tastes and how you feel when you drink it, not what we claim.
So try it. If it doesn’t move you, the Sakina Guarantee has your back. No pressure, just peace of mind.

How should I choose the right matcha?

Check out our Buyer’s Guide below. Whether you're drinking it straight, blending with milk, or baking — we’ve made it easy to find your match(a).

Why don’t you offer 30g tins like everyone else?

Because we want you to actually enjoy your matcha — not ration it. Our 50g pouches give you more value, more room to explore, and less pressure with every scoop. It’s the sweet spot between everyday use and premium sourcing.

How does Zenbumi compare to other premium Japanese matcha brands?

We source from some of the same top-tier producers across Japan, the kind that supply matcha to Japan’s most celebrated names. The difference? We’re not locked into one family or factory. Instead, we work closely with expert blenders and producers to craft proprietary blends that emphasize balance, flavor, and feeling.

Are all your matcha blends?

Yes, we choose blended cultivars like Yabukita, Okumidori, and Saemidori for consistency and flavor precision. In our Kaizen Collection, you’ll also find rare cultivars like Gokou, Asahi, and Ujihikari. If a single-cultivar matcha meets our standards in the future, we may include it, but never just for show.

Is this really ceremonial grade?

Yes, with the exception of The Maker Matcha which is culinary grade. The Kaizen Collection includes matcha fit for competition, made with rare cultivars and aged tencha.

What if I don’t like it?

Try it. Love it. Or it’s on us — that’s the Sakina Guarantee. If you're unsatisfied, we’ll issue a refund. Still not happy? We’ll even buy your next matcha from a brand you trust.

Do you sell the tools to make matcha?

Yes, we do. Starting with our curated collection of handmade ceramics.
Each piece is chosen for its form, function, and quiet beauty. While our toolkit is intentionally limited for now, more essentials are coming soon.
Just what you need to enjoy your matcha, beautifully.

Is your matcha organic?

Not at the moment. We currently only offer conventionally grown matcha — using time-honored farming techniques that have produced the highest-quality tea for generations. If we find an organic option that meets our flavor and quality standards, we’ll offer it. Until then, we stay committed to what tastes and feels best.

Is the Kaizen Collection worth it for beginners?

Maybe — but we recommend starting with our Artisan Collection or a Discovery Box unless you already know you enjoy high-grade matcha. Kaizen is rare, complex, and crafted for connoisseurs. The flavor can be intense for newcomers, but unforgettable if you’re ready.

Can I subscribe or get matcha on a schedule?

We’re working on it. For now, Zenbumi matcha is made in small seasonal batches, so we recommend signing up for our newsletter to get first access. Subscriptions may be available once we’ve secured consistent seasonal stock and the supply shock eases up.

Where is your matcha grown?

It depends on the product. Our Kaizen Collection is exclusively sourced from Uji, Japan — one of the most revered regions for matcha. Our Artisan Collection may come from Uji, Kagoshima, Yame, Shizuoka, or Shimane, depending on availability and flavor profile. We never blend teas across regions — just cultivars — to ensure a consistent, fit-for-purpose experience.

Do you ship internationally?

Not yet. We currently ship to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. As we grow, we’ll explore expanding our delivery zones. Stay tuned!

How fresh is your matcha?

Freshness is everything. Our matcha is milled in small batches and vacuum-sealed at origin to preserve its vibrancy. While we don’t ship immediately after milling (yet), we work with our producers to ensure every lot meets our standards for taste, aroma, and freshness.

Why is matcha so expensive?

Short answer: it takes a lot to make a little. From shading the leaves to hand-picking, stone-grinding, and blending — making great matcha is a labor of skill and care. We keep our margins tight and our quality high. Every pouch reflects that.
