Frequently Asked Questions
1. Where does Zenbumi source its matcha?
At Zenbumi, we pride ourselves on sourcing our matcha from Uji, Japan. Specifically from tea gardens along the Kizugawa riverbank. Our matcha is made by a dedicated group of passionate farmers who handpick the youngest green tea leaves from a variety of cultivars (Mainly Yabukita, Okumidori, and Saemidori and sometimes Gokou, Asahi, Ujihikari). These leaves are then processed into tencha, aged until perfect, then meticulously stone-ground into a fine matcha powder.
Zenbumi Matcha is a product of Japan.
2. Why is Zenbumi matcha considered premium?
It comes down to the selection of tea leaves and attention to detail when blending the various cultivated variety (cultivar). Our matcha is blended with the sole purpose of achieving the highest quality matcha possible that is valued and ranked based on color, aroma, and richness of flavor (in terms of amino acids).
Unlike other matcha you will find in the market, our matcha is not assessed based on the superiority of a single cultivar or single origin craftsmanship.
3. How can I purchase Zenbumi matcha?
Zenbumi Matcha is available in 20g samples, and 50g full bags. Subscriptions are available for 50g only. One-time purchases available. Although most resources will tell you that each serving of matcha is only 1 gram, the best results and taste start with 2grams of matcha. 20g samples offer about 10 servings, and 50g bags offer between 25-30 servings.
4. How do subscriptions work?
Yes, for those who wish to try our matcha before committing to a subscription, we offer a one-time purchase option for a single matcha bag. Note: One-time matcha bag purchases are limited to once per household, per year.
5. Which Matcha Should I Choose?
6. What is the 'Just Taste Box' and how does it work?
The 'Just Taste Box' is designed for customers who want to compare our matcha to other popular options on the market. It includes three reusable tins, each containing 20g of different matcha varieties (including Zenbumi Matcha). The tins are unlabeled, allowing you to discover your favorite through texture, color, and taste. The box also includes a matcha spoon and a tea cloth.
7. Why does Zenbumi offer quarterly subscriptions?

We operate on a quarterly shipping schedule, dispatching orders between the 1st and 5th day of February, May, August, and November.
